In our last post, we outlined the technical problems with AI-generated images for commercial van wraps—they’re low-resolution, unrealistic, and can’t be used for final production.
So, should you just delete that AI image and forget it? Absolutely not.
While that AI-generated file is useless as a final product, it is invaluable as a starting point. In fact, it solves one of the oldest and most frustrating problems in the design industry: communicating an idea.
From “I’ll Know It When I See It” to a Clear Vision
For years, the design process for a client who isn’t a designer themselves has been a long, winding road.
- A client has a brilliant idea “in their head.”
- They lack the design skills or vocabulary to show us.
- Our designer takes a guess. The client says, “No, that’s not quite it.”
- We go back and forth, trialling different layouts, fonts, and styles, slowly trying to extract the vision from the client’s mind.
This “back and forth” process can be laborious and inefficient for everyone.
This is where your AI-generated image becomes a secret weapon. That single image communicates instantly what might have taken us weeks to discover.
The AI Image as the Ultimate Design Brief
When a customer brings us an AI image, our designers can immediately see the style, mood, and direction they’re after.
- Do they want a clean, corporate look or a loud, grunge-inspired design?
- Are they picturing a minimalist layout or a full-on graphic masterpiece?
- What colour palettes are they drawn to?
The AI image answers all these questions in a second. It gives our professional designers a ready-made concept. They can then take that idea and do what the AI can’t:
- Refine it: Keep the core concept but adjust it to work in the real world.
- Professionalise it: Recreate the elements properly in high-resolution vector software.
- Apply it: Skillfully adapt the design to flow across the van’s specific contours, panel gaps, and handles.
So please, keep experimenting with AI. It’s a fantastic tool for brainstorming. But bring that image to us as the inspiration, not the final file. Think of it as the perfect visual brief that helps our human experts get you to a stunning, practical, and professional final design, faster.
